Fargesia robusta | A newer introduction from Sichuan Province to the Royal Botanic Gardens of Kew in the 1980’s. It grows more rapidly, is taller and is more tolerant of full sun than most Fargesias. This is one of the few clumping bamboos that is very hardy, tall and sun tolerant. Beautiful aching canes of shiny, deep olive-green leaves. It has a great geometric feature as the sheaths contrast greatly against the dark cans. It has a dense erect set of new growth. Ideal evergreen screen.

Fargesia rufa | This has become one of the most popular clumping bamboos over the past decade. It is attractive and fast growing and highly adaptable to either sun or shade. It is an excellent screening at about 8 feet when planted 5-8 feet apart. It has distinctive glowing orange- red sheaths through out its best seasons. It is particularly attractive in spring with nice green canes with a bit of red at the internodes. It is also unusual as it is very tolerant of sun. Its small stature makes this bamboo perfect for small gardens, containers or courtyard planting.
